February 10, 2020 First 100 Members!

Thanks to my growing Facebook and meetup community, we reached our first 100 members in about a month after launching.

We intend to focus on making the experience better to keep people coming back and using the app.

We want people to show us that they really love it so we'll work in making our search and interaction features better.

February 10, 2020 Launched Beta version to private Facebook group

Finally in December 2019, I did a soft launch of the website Tribefly.net to my small but growing community of digital nomads in Da Nang.

At the time the features we launched with were:

  • Ability to create profiles listing your expertise, experience, and your preferred objective for meetings
  • Chat feature to send messages to those who approve your request to connect
  • Ability to schedule meetings and set time and locations through the app using Google Maps API

July 1, 2018 Friend turned Cofounder

I met my buddy Hugo Morgan in Da Nang around 2016 through a mutual friend. He was just learning to code and working as an English teacher.

Skip ahead to 2018, I came back to Da Nang from a trip to the US and told Hugo about my idea for the website.

He liked the idea and offered to help me develop the project since he was much more proficient at coding that I was.

We then became partners and he took on all the code for the website while I focused on design and usability.

January 1, 2018 Learned Python

I finally decided to learn to code and studying courses on Coursera to learn Python3.

My plan was to learn python and then get into Django to design a simple way for people to create profiles and share their online businesses and experience.

I got 3 certificates from Coursera on coding in Python

December 2015 Came up with the idea.

I started hosting meetups for online business people in Da Nang, Vietnam in 2015 when I moved there from the SF Bay Area.
There was no place for people to list their side projects or marketing skills and I wanted to know who was in my city to meet with to potentially work with.

Although I didn't know how to code nor had the time or money to invest in someone else developing the project

About

I wanted a way to find entrepreneurs near me with contrasting skills to collaborate with on new projects. There was no quick way to search by expertise or willingness to collaborate that's location based. Now there is.
