June 11, 2021 Released Sharing Collections of Cards

There have been a lot of directions I could go with Trig. Originally I wanted Trig to be an enterprise search and discovery platform not limited to just links.

Recently I've been doubting if that was the right path to go down though. After talking to a lot of people there was a lot of excitement around possibly sharing a sub group of links that Trig organizes. Kind of like Pinterest, but for professionals. I thought there was enough excitement around it that I built it out.

Now you can create a public "Collection" within Trig. You can then share the URL for that collection without whomever you would like and they can access the cards in that collection the same way you can.

It's an exciting release because I think it puts Trig on a whole new path. The goal is to see if this idea sticks and if it's worth running with or not.

May 7, 2021 Got My First Real User

I've been reaching out to my network telling them about Trig. For the first few days I had a lot of my network say "cool I'll check it out!" and then either never check it out or create an account and do nothing with it. Finally yesterday I found someone who started using Trig. He said "Trig's tagging system is magical." He added quite a few pieces of content to Trig and it seemed he really saw the vision.

You can add websites to Trig through the app itself, but he was trying to add Tweets. Unfortunately Twitter has some rate limits that make it hard to scrape tweets correctly. That's one benefit of the Chrome extension that I made. Unfortunately he Firefox! My first feature request. Time to port my Chrome extension over to Firefox!

Congrats! That's a good feeling. Hopefully you're not using too many Chrome-specific APIs, otherwise it shouldn't be too difficult to build the Firefox version. Good luck!

Thanks, appreciate it! I think I am using a few, but hopefully I can figure it out quickly.

April 30, 2021 I released the first version of Trig!

It's been a long time coming. I definitely should have scoped out my work before I worked so much. I way over built, but eventually I scoped it down to a releasable MVP and I made it.

It's available at https://trytrig.com and I would love feedback.

July 28, 2020 Added Feature to Remove Duplicate Documents

My goal is to automatically organize documents across and organization with no manual work necessary and no folders. I started by making a Google Drive integration. All of my files are being pulled in and parsed correctly.

I noticed without folders I had a lot of duplicated documents. An exact match with their content or title wasn't going to handle removing those duplicates, so I added some Machine learning and it works beautifully. The latest version of a document is shown first , but the user has access to every version of the document, who created it, the differences, and when they were created out of the box and theoretically across different apps.

Right now I have just the google drive integration, but other integrations shouldn't be too hard since I have the groundwork set. Excited to see this in the wild. It's something I could really use day to day.

February 24, 2020 Launched Marketing Page

I've been building this in my limited free time for a while now. I have the app completely designed with high fidelity comps, and a completed frontend to the app. It came far too late, but I decided to stop working on the app until I had some way to market the site even though there is no working app yet.

The idea is to write regularly in the blog, and create some traffic before I release.

About

One of the biggest pain points in working with teams, is finding things. We read articles, we make slide decks, we have tons of files. Trig comes from the need to always find what you're looking for.
