November 24, 2020 Appsumo launch and first sale

link: https://appsumo.com/marketplace-triggered/

I've always been a fan of Noah Kagan and appsumo. So when they announced they're opening up their marketplace platform, it was a no-brainer.

The setup and approval were fast and their team was super helpful. After signing up the contract last night, I waked up to the news of the product going live and first sale!

If you want to list, have a look at appsumo.com/sell. You don't need to be exclusively selling at appsumo. But it'd be better if you can provide a discount.

August 26, 2020 Starting a Twitter page + A small hack

Posted a few tweets that can provide value to visitors before starting to engage in other people's comment sections. I was short of tweet ideas to begin with; so decided to copy the templates of the first 20 tweets of an account I really enjoy following. It helped.

here it is: twitter.com/triggered_leads

Also, I'm at 199 followers on my personal account. If anyone seeing would this would like to get better at sales prospecting, am doing a free giveaway of the product to the 200th follower.
Just give twitter.com/akhilpedia a follow and DM!

I'm finding twitter to be a really difficult channel to grow, I find myself just posting the same thing over and over. Does it take some sort of critical mass to start growing organically on twitter?

      Same here!

The goals behind creating a separate account for the product were:

      1. Learning how to grow from scratch.
      2. Focus exclusively on tweeting content related to the product(sales)
      3. Experimenting on a new voice( in this case, more assertive).

I'm using my personal account largely to get in touch with interesting people.

Also, came across some interesting content regarding twitter growth recently and thought it would be a good time to start applying what I learned.

August 5, 2020 First 3 customers!

It took 48 hours post-launch and I have largely Indiehackers to thank for it.

The initial goal was 100$ for the first week, but now Triggered is just one sale away from passing the mark.

Even though it's a small achievement, what helped is being candid and asking for feedback and help. An earlier version of me would've shied away from the thought of admitting I have 0 sales. Not the case now.

I've started using the content in the database to generate ideas to start conversations with potential customers. Like ideas to identify sales opportunity for a CRO Saas, webflow agency, etc. Might soon do a challenge here on IH!

August 3, 2020 Launched My First Product!

All this stemmed from an article in Hubspot by Emma Brudner(if you're reading, thank you Emma!) called "29 Types of Sales Trigger Events and How to Track Them".

At the beginning of the year, I had acted on the advice in that article and got instant results. i.e., appointments with potential clients for the marketing agency I worked for then.

While Emma's article was great, it was a bit generic for someone who wants practical tactics. So I searched a lot on the internet for an ideal resource. There wasn't any.

The lightbulb moment came when I saw the examples of Kacper of getscrapbook.com and Micheal of integreat.cloud launching impressive products on Airtable. A database of B2B buying signals too would nicely fit this format and salespeople are usually comfortable with spreadsheet-like databases.

I had posted an MVP (if one can call it) of Triggered a month back in Indiehackers and got a few positive responses. This was the story I shared then:

"In my last marketing agency job, I was able to generate potential client appointments by observing various sales triggers aka buying signals and pitching the prospect with opportunities. I got this idea from a wonderful Hubspot article and applying it bought immediate results. Some personal use cases:

Identified a Manufacturing company's LinkedIn page was defunct for the last 2 months and pitched an idea of reviving the Linkedin efforts to generate more awareness around the brand.

Noticed the search enquiries for a certain financial term was going up and pitched content strategy to the prospect who is into financial auditing.

Observed a prospect conducted a webinar recently and pitched repurposing the existing content to further fuel their marketing efforts.

Since then I've been collecting these triggers across the internet (now 40 of them) and thought this would be useful for most salespeople and founders (tech, saas, agency, etc). "

From there I went on to consume tons of content from experts on B2B buying intent signals, tested a ton of tools, came up with insights, and recorded it all in the database.

Though it's hard to predict how the sales will come am confident this database is something I'll be referencing myself next time I help someone with B2B sales. Also, the product is still at V 1.0 at the moment.

It's because the plan is to update it frequently with the latest tools and methods. (at least twice a month).I want to make it the best database for buying signals. (and once you purchase you'll have free access to all future updates)

If you're a B2B salesperson or founder who does sales, feel free to reach out to me here or via twitter.

Also If you're an Indiehacker with any questions about the process of creating Triggered, please feel free to reach out. I've learned a ton from the folks here and would love to pay some of it back.
