Ever find yourself with 20+ tabs open, drowning in travel blogs and flight comparisons, only to end up more confused and overwhelmed than when you started?
That was me, constantly. I call it 'travel analysis paralysis'.
To fight this, I spent the last few months building Trip Roulette: an AI-powered discovery engine designed to bring back the serendipity of travel. Instead of a blank search bar, you just spin the globe.
In seconds, the app generates a random, often unexpected, destination and gives you an instant, AI-generated travel snapshot to get you inspired. This includes:
A Unique Destination: From famous capitals to hidden gems.
A Custom Image: A stunning, AI-generated visual of the place (powered by Google's Imagen).
A Travel Guide: Top attractions, local foods to try, budget estimates, and more (all generated by Google Gemini).
For those who want to take it a step further, the premium 'Voyager' plan unlocks an AI Itinerary Planner that builds out a full day-by-day trip plan.
The Stack:
I built this solo. The stack is:
Frontend: React + Tailwind CSS
Backend/DB/Auth: Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Cloud Functions)
AI: Google Gemini for text/itineraries, Google Imagen for visuals.
Payments: Stripe
