TriviaMaker
AI-powered quiz maker for teachers & teams
Hey Indie Hackers,
You know that surreal feeling when you watch someone use your product correctly, but in a way you never, ever anticipated?
We built TriviaMaker to solve a clear pain point: clunky engagement in classrooms and meetings. Last week, I was checking our anonymous live quiz logs (a founder's guilty pleasure) and saw a session titled "Sarah & Jake's Wedding Quiz."
My first thought was a bug. My second was curiosity.
Turns out, a guest had used TriviaMaker to run a fun, personal trivia game about the bride and groom during the reception. No accounts, no downloads, just a link on the program. People joined on their phones at the table, laughing and competing in real-time.
It was a tiny moment, but it reframed everything for me. We were so focused on the "problem space" (meetings, training) that we missed the "human space" (connection, celebration).
Our lesson: Your users will define your product's true use case. Your job is to listen, be delighted, and maybe loosen the reins on your "vision."
My question for you: What's the most unexpected or delightful way someone has used something you've built? I need more stories like this.
Like many people who teach, train, or host live sessions, we kept running into the same problem: getting people to actually participate.
Whether it was a classroom, a virtual meeting, or a live event, engagement tools were either too slow to set up, required logins, or felt clunky once the session started. By the time everything was ready, the moment had already passed.
That frustration is what led to TriviaMaker.
We wanted to build something that let hosts create a quiz in minutes, launch it instantly, and let anyone join from any device - no accounts, no friction. The focus wasn’t on adding more features, but on removing obstacles.
As the product evolved, AI became a natural fit. Instead of starting from a blank page, hosts could generate questions faster, adapt content on the fly, and focus more on the experience than the setup.
What We Learned Building an AI-Powered Quiz Platform
Speed beats perfection.
Hosts care more about getting a game live quickly than having every setting configured.Zero-friction participation matters.
If players need to log in or download something, engagement drops instantly.AI should assist, not overwhelm.
The best AI features quietly save time rather than demanding attention. One product, many use cases.
The same tool can work for teachers, HR teams, and event hosts if it’s flexible enough.
Today, TriviaMaker is used for classrooms, training sessions, team meetings, and live events of all sizes. The goal hasn’t changed: make real-time engagement effortless and fun.
We’re still learning, still iterating, and excited to see where the community takes it next. ..

"I'll start: Before this, a teacher told me she used our 'quick quiz' for a spontaneous pizza topping vote with her students. The 'Aha!' was realizing we weren't just a quiz tool, but a quick decision tool."
