I launched TweetScreenr (https://tweetscreenr.com/) today and made by first dollar on the internet. Someone signed up and upgraded to premium. I launched on Hacker News through a "Show HN".

A failed first attempt:

My initial launch was over a year ago and it surprisingly made it to the front page on HN. Unfortunately, I had underestimated the amount of interest my side project would generate and had put everything (including a sqlite DB) on a t2.micro ec2 instance. Needless to say, it went down pretty fast. Using a larger EC2 instance didn't really help much and was slightly expensive for a side project without a payments page. It took me over a year to re-write the app to be completely serverless. This was not a very smart decision on hindsight. Though going completely serverless kept my cloud bills down while I was working on adding new features, it was painful to debug obscure issues. More about that later.

TweetScreenr grew out of my frustration with Twitter. I found myself relying on Twitter to follow a particular research community, but realized that I do not care about the actual tweets/threads - all I wanted was the l
