The journey so far π
When we started Tweetmash, we were aiming to build a way to get the most out of Twitter. We knew building just a bookmark manager is not going to solve much, as it probably is another new home where curated tweets are going to sit idle.
Entered as Browser Extension
Right from MVP we focused on the way it's going to be consumed!
So we started it as a new tab browser extension, that recommends tweets to read in a digest. Later, we began to work on the web version as the new tab doesn't work for most of them!
Release of Bookmarks API
When we were thinking about ease of use, Twitter, fortunately, launched Bookmarks API!
So we rewrote the import part to auto-sync approach once Twitter is connected!
Getting out First User
While we keep adding features, we were a bit afraid of how we are going to monetise it!
We have a lot of questions going on our minds at this time, whether people will pay for this or we just building random things! Then and there some feedbacks keep us moving forward!
We only launched our payment plans after almost 6 months when we started. Until around 3 weeks we didn't get any sales! At that time, we took only around ~$60 dollars for our monthly expenses and we had thought this is going to end badly for us!
Fortunately, we got a chance to exchange conversations with KP and he became our first paid customer! And we got our ray of hope back β¨
Winning Chirp Developer Challenge!
Navigating through the uncertainty is a thrilling ride with lots of ups & downs!
One day, when there was a sale we had a sense of joy and when there were no sales for a week, we keep thinking about whether we are doing right or not! We submitted Tweetsmash to the Chirp challenge to give it a try!
When we made around ~$3k in revenue, we got the result that we won the first prize with a $10k cash prize! It was really a huge relief for us, that we can survive for more months with this!
We had a rollercoaster ride with emotions throughout this period!
Not days went smoothly but we managed to slowly work on the feedback from our customers!
Some feature highlights π
β¨Tweetsmash's Recipe feature helps with auto-organizing bookmarks by grouping authors, labels, and keywords & connect them to email & apps like Notion.
β¨Improved Bookmark manager a lot for a better reading experience with thread reader, more filters & search options
β¨ We implemented multiple Notion syncs for Bookmarks.
β¨ Customizable email digest
Reading bookmarks with Indie hacker's tweets on Friday & having a Notion for them, made my Twitter curation & consumption easier. We started experimenting with discovering high-signal tweets via the Twitter list. We believe optimising the quality of inputs will eventually improve the curated workflow.
β¨ We added digests for Lists that can rank favourite authors to the top to not miss their tweets.
What's next β¨
We had some huge plans to make Tweetsmash(tweetsmash.com) a first-class curation tool to make the most out of Twitter. With ongoing Twitter changes, we are hoping this is going to be much more challenging & thrilling than before.
Let's make this happen πͺ
