Type Fast

To be quite frank the app just took off one day and started bringing in some revenue, which has been slowly increasing over the past several months. I barely spent money on marketing, I've just been making occasional updates to keep the app fresh. I've also been tweaking SEO but I have yet to see a huge improvement from that.

The business model is (almost) entirely ad based, following the same standard as other free iOS games. There's a full screen ad shown to the user after each round of game. Users can remove ads for a small price of $2.99.

Not much has gone into advertising, I just kept releasing regular updates, kept tweaking the SEO here and there and the download rates slowly picked up over time.

First I was getting around 5-10 downloads a day, then there was a big jump around 6 months in when it went to ~40 downloads / day. Since then it's been a gradual progression but it pretty much leveled off around 200-220 downloads / day.

There was a spike one time when the app made it to the top 100 in the Free Word Games category, it was a good day bc I got around 500 downloads 😀. Bad part is that it was a one time thing and I've failed to replicate that ever since.

This was my first ever app on the App Store and my motivation behind it was mostly just to practice my newfound dev skills. The idea came sort of randomly, no real market research was done beforehand. I thought it would be a fun app that might have some potential and would not be too hard to create.
