TypeGenie
Bring the power of GPT with you to every website
Two weeks after launch I released an update to use Streams to make OpenAI type the response directly into the input field. This makes Typegenie at least 3x faster than it used to be.
In total I sold 10 licenses for Typegenie during the first month. After the first wave of traffic through the launch pages the traffic to my website has slowed down considerably. I will try some new things in marketing in the coming weeks.
After the launch on PH and Hacker news, a few curated AI tool sites like theresanaiforthat.com picked up on my extension as well as one newsletter which drove a lot of traffic on my website. During the next few days a was able to get a few more sales which were driven by this traffic.

On April 13th i released on ProductHunt and one day later on Hacker News. The ProductHunt release didn't go as well as I had planned with only 20 upvotes, however I got quite some traffic through the Hacker News launch. On the 14th of April I got my first sale for TypeGenie

In order to release the extension on the chrome web store, several steps had to be taken. Firstly, I had to register an account on the platform. After which, I had to pay a fee in order to be able to upload and release the extension on the store. Once the fee was paid, the extension had to go through a validation process to ensure that it met all the necessary requirements and standards. This process includes a review of the extension's code, user interface, and functionality to ensure that it is safe and does not contain any malicious code. Only after this validation process was complete, was the extension able to be published on the store and made available to users.

I built the prototype for TypeGenie in 7 days. The idea was to create a user friendly way to use ChatGPT on every website.
I decided to build a chrome extension that would support an exensible set of commands. An event loop would look for active inputs with these commands and would render a button into the input that the user could click to start the generation process
