April 7, 2020 Launch on ProductHunt

I launched Typlog on ProductHunt. It didn't work well. It got more than 200 votes that day, a few signups, but no paid users. I don't know what was wrong, maybe it was the normal results.

I certainly should launch on ProductHunt earlier. Maybe I need to launch it on every big update. Any ideas?

March 26, 2020 $1000 Monthly revenue

Typlog is now making $1000 a month. It is a milestone for me, although it is still not enough for me to go to full-time job on Typlog.

I've been stuck on less than $100 per month revenue for nearly two years. This is certainly a good sign, I'm looking forward to get more customers in the future.

December 22, 2019 Got a Homepage

It was so bad that Typlog didn't have a proper homepage until this day. Before that, it was just a blank page without any useful information. I was bad at marketing, and I didn't like marketing, so I didn't want to write homepage. But a homepage is required for customers to understand what Typlog is, I finally created a homepage this day.

Very Bad.

April 2, 2019 Growth

I'm bad at marketing. Typlog was there for nearly two years with very few paid users. I failed to let more people to know Typlog. But on this day, one certain user joined Typlog, and he said something good about Typlog on social media. Typlog got many registration that day, and at last, Typlog got more than 10 paid users from this promotion.

October 14, 2017 First podcast site

Typlog was started as a blogging service at first. I added podcasting support later in a few months. This site https://niki.typlog.io/ was the first podcast site.

Later, more and more podcasts were moved to Typlog. It was certainly a correct choice.

May 3, 2017 MVP

My personal blog was on Typlog now. I wrote a blog post about it, inviting people to join Typlog beta testing.

At this moment, Typlog itself was a static site generator with a writing dashboard. All posts were saved in database, but all web pages were generated as static HTML files.

April 1, 2017 I don't want to use static site generator any more

I've been using static site generator for my blog for a long time. I don't update my blog frequently, every time when I try to update my blog, it feels unpleasant to use a site generator.

It doesn't feel that you are writing articles, it feels like you are writing code. Then, you have to git push the content. Besides, it is not easy to manage photos with static site generator.

I've check medium at first, not my type. Then ghost, the editor doesn't work well with CJK input method. And I also have some personal thoughts in blogging.

So, Typlog is here.
