The business entity that is to carry forward the uauto project has been functioning without registration for sometime, due to the govt having stopped new registrations, CAs being unfamiliar with the new LLP laws and lack of clarity and consistent efforts from our side. Finally after a year of waiting, Coopon Scitech LLP has been registered on this day with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

ICA-AP along with ULCCS, Kerala Startup Mission organized a Cooperative's Hackathon where the idea of an ethical ride aggregation service was presented with the a prototype of a fully free(dom) tech stack devoid of vendor lock-in, offline maps and promise of fully federated services. We won second place for our existing efforts.

After researching different ways to implement the maps without Google or Mapbox or any vendor, we settled on the libraries we needed to use OpenStreetMap for offline map, with Full-Text Search of areas on the map and fully offline routing between selected points. Need to be integrated with the API.

The uauto team gathered for the first time ever to work on the idea in a two day hackathon. We started with building two reference API servers in Go & Python, working with the Android app. The first effort was just to get a simple users model ready and work on registration & login. Go backend's efforts was halfway done, whereas the efforts using the sanic based Python AIO framework required more time to incompatibility and errors with the psycopg driver.
