1 Melón de pixels

I'm very happy that my new job at Oracle got me to over 50k sold pixels (100px goes for 12.50USD). A good friend and amazing co-worker bought them as a parting gift!

I have been not paying as much attention to 1mpx.com as I should have due to doing the leetcode grind needed to get into big tech.

Working at Oracle has been a goal of mine since collage and also on my "things to do before I turn 30" list.

I don't have any new lessons learned regarding indie hacking per say, but I can say that investing time in yourself (as cliche as it sounds) pays off.

I'll be making a decent amount more money working at Oracle and will also be working fully remote.

I hope to get time back by no longer needing commute and putting that time into my indie hacking projects :D

It's unfortunate but the majority of my clients are not native to LATAM. My highest paying clients are primarily English speakers. I've tried building in public in both Spanish and English but I seem to get much more traction when I do English only.

Plus enough people have told me that they'd buy pixels if the site was more English friendly. Also all my LATAM friends that work in tech or stem are all bilingual.

With all this I've decided to englishify unmelondepixeles.com and have bought the domain 1mpx.com :D. I'm happy with the purchase cause it's still Spanish friendly but about as international as it can get, plus it's very short and easy to write down and remember!

Getting to this point I've learned that simple is better than flashy, networking is king, the indie hacker community is amazing and kind.

Para llegar a este punto aprendí que, simple es mejor que vistoso, hacer contactos es muy importante y la comunidad de indie hackers es asombroso y amable.

No hay mucho que decir, solo ando celebrando otro logro de ventas :D Esto significa que en total tengo al rededor de 50,000 pesos de ganancia.

Not much to say, just celebrating another sales milestone :) This means that I have about 2,500 dollars in revenue.

Today someone bought pixels to display the INDIE HACKERS logo on my mural (top left) and link to this community :3 I hope this will bring even more people to IH.

Today Un melón de Píxeles has sold 10,000 of it's 1 Million pixels! This is about 1,250 USD in revenue. This has been my most profitable side project so far and this is a great milestone for me.

Hoy Un melón de Píxeles ha vendido 10,000 de un millón de pixeles disponibles. Eso equivale a 25,000 MXN de ingresos. Este ha sido mi proyecto que ha generado mas ganancias que cualquier otro y es un gran hito.

I am still early in my bootstrapping journey. I work a good 9 to 5 that I really enjoy, with people I really like and respect. I don't have a great idea or sector of the market that I'd like to dedicate my full time to. So meanwhile I've decided to make LATAM & Serverless versions of webapps that I like, and that will give me experience and skills to build something cool in the near future.

Todavía estoy muy al inicio de mi viaje de bootstrapping. Tengo un trabajo de tiempo completo que me gusta mucho y trabajo con personas que me agradan y respeto bastante. Aun no tengo una gran idea o un sector del mercado identificado para cual dedicar todo mi tiempo. Así que mientras, se me ocurrió crear versiones latinas y con tecnologías Serverless de paginas que me agradan y que me darán la experiencia y habilidades para crear algo padre en un futuro cercano.
