Unboring KW

Community events and activities website

December 29, 2022 Finally! One less unused domain name :D

After so many stalled side projects, I finally got one into production!

It's an events and community website for my hometown. It's still a baby website, not too much on it yet, but I wanted to put it out there and see what people think. So far it's got an events feed, activity roulette, and some articles.

A little back story: I moved back to my hometown with my husband a few years ago. We had a kid, COVID happened, we had another kid... so yeah our social life took a nosedive, and we have come to the realization that we've become pretty boring. And for a long time we blamed it on the place - it's not us, it's this city, there's nothing to do here. But once we started making an effort we realized that actually there is a lot to do, it's just kind of hard to find and you have to follow a bunch of accounts, check some stuffy tourism websites, etc. So we decided to make a website to aggregate and curate all that info so people (and us) can find the events and activities that are worth checking out.

I'm seriously thrilled to have actually gotten this project out of the idea stage. Now the hard part: building an audience.

Love it, that you GOITD! I'm thrilled, your thrilled!
Checked your site out, solid content. Lots of scrolling...

I started checking out some welcome sites of places I love in my home country... The ones that grabbed me all had a scroll horizontal scenic picture banner showing movie. Definitely works for spectacular scenic places. Thinking perhaps for home towns too as its sense-of-pride.

Then went to dribble, and saw this:

About

I want to make it easier for people to discover fun things to do in my hometown (a mid-sized city in Canada). My goal in the future is to productize the website/app so other cities can use it as well.
