Uncaption
iOS app to automatically add captions to your videos.
Did not have much time today, but I managed to get started on the new design implementation. The new is supposed to have a cool lottie animation on the home screen. Unfortunately, the lottie json file did not work with xcode due to a few layers having some transparency.
I resorted to exporting the animation to a gif, which is not ideal but it works. On top of that there is 2 files, one for dark mode and one for light mode. The new and improved home screen, is a fresh new look and hopefully it attracts more users to opt for the subscription.
This is a small start to the coming update, but Im hoping to have an update by the end of the month, or early Feb.
It's been a year since I started with just the original design on the app. It took me about 3-4 months for the first version to prove it worked. The first version of the app was an MVP really. The captions were being generated on the back of iOS native API for Speech recognition, it was ok, but had a lot of limitations. I saw that people were willing to use the app at this stage, so from there I decided to update the whole app to use AWS transcriptions services.
Fast forward another 6 months, and now the app is making slightly more than $100 MRR, I will now start working on the next version, new design, and new features.

Gary Vee was the main motivator for this app idea a long time ago. Having worked on a social media startup as a developer before, I saw the importance of content. So I decided to start on it at the start of 2020.
