This ain't my first rodeo as a newsletter creator (I've been at this since 2015, and currently have another list with 5K subs right now).
But DAMN, I forgot how good it feels to hit these early milestones. I know the best is yet to come, but the bigger numbers just feel less special for some reason. So I'm making a point to celebrate this, and really enjoy it.

Though I plan on ultimately leaning into yearly memberships, I got the ball rolling by selling a handful of super discounted lifetime memberships.
This helped me validate the demand a bit more, get people into the community and populate it, and test out all of the back-end systems and tech.
I went through a TON of different tech options for the front end of my membership publication. And I ended up on Webflow because of its insane power and flexibility. I didn't want another cookie cutter WP template (or god forbid, a Substack publication). I wanted to build something that would stand out in a sea of noise.
But holy hell, the learning curve on Webflow is nuts. I spent basically all of September flailing around and trying to make it work the way I wanted. Considered moving back to Wordpress a few times because it was just that frustrating.
But in early October, I buckled down, focused on just getting an MVP version out the door, and now here we are. Super glad to have chosen Webflow and pushed through the learning curve. The potential is limitless now.
