Unify

We've revamped our logo to better communicate what Unify does. The initial logo was pretty generic for a photo editing app. It really didn't help help communicate what the app did and it didn't stand out. Turns out there were several similar logos in the photo editing app space. Now we have something that is more unique and better expresses what Unify does.

Unify is now the first and only app that automatically detects the best frames across a live photo and combines it into one perfect image for you.
This was a big feature request from users.

Unify has hit 10,000 organic downloads since its launch 7 weeks ago! 🎉

The main thing we've been working on is product market fit by making the app easier to use, such as having sample media with a tutorial easily available when choosing a photo, as well as adding markers to the live photo timeline where faces were saved.

We've improved our core technology to allow more angled faces.

We've been testing subscription period options to include monthly, 3-month, yearly options, and different trial periods.

We've improved our remote notifications to allow for media and trackable calls to action within the app.

Being featured by Apple on the App Store in "New Apps We Love" gave us a huge surge of users. We were the first app in the category for about a week and are still featured. We have users from all over the world using the app and loving it. What an unexpected way to launch.

Another unexpected feature. We noticed a lot of downloads being registered in Google Analytics and ended up finding Unify on the front page of the Apple App Store in "New Apps We Love". We are still completely blown away and humbled by the love. A big thanks to the editors at the App Store.

Unify was tweeted by Product Hunt and we were one of the top products of the day. It was a very welcome surprise because we didn't do anything besides create a profile. I guess we struck a chord with our unique features. Basically, it happened organically.

Working on this project on the side, it took a lot of work to get an MVP completed. There is a lot more that we want to do with Unify, but we want to validate that people want an app that combines the best parts of Apple Love Photos. We think we have something people will love.

I come from a big family. There are 6 of us and family photos always have one of us blinking or making an odd face while everyone else looks great. An old friend who is a syndicated photographer once told me that most group photos are composite images, even with couples. I thought it was overdue to be able to create great group photos on your phone and started developing the app on the side.
