Generate a unique watermark PDF per recipient
Just finished writing my first article ever for UniquePDF:
https://uniquepdf.com/blog/top-4-online-tools-to-watermark-your-PDF
Right now I'm trying to have more visitors on my website by having a good rank on Google. It's not really the case at the moment so I decided to write a blog to target some keywords!
My goals is to write around 4 or 5 articles this week and publish one per week during the following weeks in order to improve my SEO.
I guess the biggest part of the work won't be writing the articles but promoting them.
I will get back here for the result in a few weeks!
Ok, this was rather unexpected. Here is how it happened:
Two days ago, I was doing some modifications on https://uniquepdf.com, and one user complained that it wasn't working. I told him it was normal as I was working on it and I would tell him when it would be working again. One hour later I told him that it was working.
Yesterday morning, he contacted me again and said that it was still not working! I found it weird since everything was working fine for me, but I tried to investigate. He told me that he needed it asap. After a while I received an email saying that he took the 49$ plan! At first, I even thought it was a mistake, but then he told me to fix it as fast as I could because he needed my tool.
It was incredible. in the end, my first client paid for something that wasn't even working for him! Don't worry, now it's working fine and he already used my tool :D
I will try to talk to him so I can understand what are his needs and I'll try to keep my first client as long as I can!
For everyone out there who's struggling like me to get their first clients: keep working hard, promote your product, talk about it on forums, be sure you appear for your keywords on Google, and you'll eventually get some clients!

That's a huge first step! Congratulations!! Also, this might be something we could use to watermark PDF exports of brand guidelines for my product. I'll DM.

The customers for this would be businesses. They have no problem paying to get a problem solved. If this starts taking off I would review your pricing. Eg free tier 5 PDFs per month. $49 50 PDFs etc. anyway good luck.

Thanks for the words at end of the post <3

Very cool! Is your approach just the visual stamp? Have you considered adding some steganography down the road? That might be overkill for your target audience, but just sounds like a fun problem to me.

Thanks :) That's a really good comment actually. At first I wanted to do some steganography in the PDF I watermarked, I tried a bit but I think it was too much effort and people might not actually be interested!

Congragulations. How did you come up with the idea?

Thanks :) This is actually my brother's idea. At first, I mostly took this as a training to learn some new programming languages, but now I can see that some people are actually interested in a tool like this.

Nice. I always think a small niche won't work. But actually small niches work better than large niches.

They can totally work of course, it's even better/easier if you're already in that niche I think. One of my problems with that side project is that I still don't have a 'defined' type of customer. That's why I have to talk to that client and find out how he found me and what exactly are his needs.

I finally have a stable product and website that I think I can begin to sell (https://uniquepdf.com). I put it online and learned a lot about SEO during the previous weeks even if I still have a lot to learn. The moment of truth will soon come as I will know if this sparks an interest or not!
After more than two weeks of coding, I finally had an MVP, and managed to set it live! I learned a lot during this phase, from Ruby on Rails coding to hosting. Maybe it took me a long time (for the result I got), but now I can say that if I have to start over for a new product, it will be so much faster! I still have a lot of things to do like polishing my website before trying to sell this product.

It first started when my brother had an idea. Since mid-September, I graduated and wanted to launch my first product for a few months. As I was starting from scratch, without having ever coded a website, I needed to learn a lot of things and maybe this product would fail but let's go for it!

This is my first product. It started from an idea of my brother, and I consider it mostly as a "training" before launching other products.

Awesome, what a feeling right.
Be sure to do some on page seo, and promote the blog try and get some links out there!
Best of luck 🔥
Thanks! Indeed, it felt good to publish it :D
Are you cross publishing the blog posts in sites like medium and dev? Or what's the plan to promote and get them infront of readers?
I promoted it on Twitter (but got nearly no followers) and I will try to do some guest blogging, answer on some questions on Quora and other websites, and build some backlinks.
My primary goal is to get a good ranking on Google to get a steady flow of readers (and potential customers/qualified leads) over the next months.

This course is really good, and they’ve made it free for now due to the coronavirus

Thanks!
I just followed the same course from Ahrefs, you should check it out! Even if you're not using Ahrefs tool, there are some pretty valuable advice :)
