Unita
Discover, compare and review the best communities and groups
With more than 100 communities listed of different categories like business, marketing, design, nocode, developers and more we were ready to test it for real.
With a soft launch on our own social networks and sending the site to friends, contacts, we fixed some log in issues and saw people interested on the site :)
Now we are working more with a marketing plan, talking to community owners and continue adding new ones.
I am big fan of NoCode tools, my last side project WeRemoto.com (a remote job board for Latam) was built with Sheet2site and was acquired one year later with more than 40k sessions per month.
So we started working with Bubble and Webflow but after a few days, we found a great wordpress template for directories. We weren't so convinced but in order to have a functional MVP in a few weeks, we went for that template.
Also, we were looking for something with the reviews feature, and there is no clear nocode tool with that.
At the same time of setting up the site, categories, plugins, codes, listing format, etc, we listed the first 100 communities.
After a few tests and adding more fileds to the community profile (like social media links, quote, year founded, we were ready to launch.

One of our founders were searching to join and investment community, he was looking to learn about investing on side projects, startups (not future unicorns), to accelerate bootstrapped entrepreneurs.
When he noticed the lack of a place where to see all the available communities in one place.
So we decided to start Unita.co, a directory of communities, masterminds and groups where you can compare and review them.
The idea from the beginning was to have a complete profile of each community, including description, benefits, requirements, pricing, meetings, content library, founder, amoun of members, and much more.

About
Unita is a directory of communities, where you can search by category and review them. There are a lot of communities and masterminds, but they are not easy to find and even harder to decide if they are worth it or not.

Looking good!!
Im looking to build a company directory site but can't decide about the stack
Im familiar with Wordpress and the theme MyListing you are using looks great. What's your experience so far?
I'm not sure if I should go with WP or sheet2site, softr or similar no code tool. Thoughts?
Listing will have more than 1000 records of companies
Thanks!
I used Sheet2site in the past and it's great, but it has limited features. For example, for Unita, I needed reviews, user and community owner login differentiated.
Softr will be great for an MVP before going to WP if you want to ship faster.
I'm not a big fan of WP, but I also wanted something strong with SEO so I went for MyListing template.
Thanks for the insights!!
What other WP themes/plugins have you reviewed b4 deciding for MyListing? What them/plugin got second on your stack?
Oh, and regarding database management.
How different is managing a single Airtable database compared to WP? I assume you have to import data in CSV to WP?
YoastSeo, Smush Pro and a few more.
We are using MyListing solution for the CMS, so we managed all from WP (not importing or airtable)
