April 7, 2026 Rejected by 15 universities, paid $400, then built the tool I wished existed

3 years. 2 countries. 15 rejections. $400 to a consultant who found my university through luck, not Google.

That's what studying abroad cost me.

The invisible problem: Google only shows universities with good SEO — not good programs. I applied to every famous German university Google displayed. All rejected me. The university that finally accepted me? No global ranking, no search presence, invisible online. But perfect for my profile.

Consultants charge $500+ to access what should be public information. They exploit this information gap that hurts students from developing countries most.

What I built: University Explorer

A free search tool where every university lives — ranked or not, SEO or not, famous or hidden:

• Smart Filter: Search by degree (BS/MS/PhD), field, country, fees

• City Expenses: Calculate real living costs in 100+ cities before you apply

• Currency Converter: Convert tuition to your local currency instantly

• Academic Survey: 5-minute quiz for personalized course recommendations

• Direct Links: Access official university websites, no outdated third-party data

Why free: Because I know what rejection feels like. Because $400 for a university list is wrong. Because your location shouldn't limit your education options.

Current status: Live on iOS and Android. Students from South Asia are already finding universities they'd never discover otherwise.

Ask: What country should I add next? What's your study abroad nightmare? Would you pay for integrated IELTS prep?
