November 26, 2020 Black Friday update

I've deployed an update today, and updrafts.app is now using tailwind css 2 for it's css presets.

I've also added lifetime plan in addition to the monthly subscriptions, because not everyone feels comfortable with subscribing.

The update has been launched with a massive 50% Black Friday discount. Both via mail to existing users, and on Twitter.

November 16, 2020 Released the first big update

I've finished up and released the first big update. There have been smaller bug fixes in the meanwhile, but this one is biiiig.

I've optimized the data model, and added support for:

  • imports from tailwind-ui, play.tailwind, or actually any other tailwind component library.
  • responsive design modifiers. Now you can design responsive sites with updrafts.app
  • moved the canvas into an iframe so that things like "width: screen" work properly.
  • instead of all-direction margin&padding, the directions are now configurable independently.
  • preview on hover! Instead of after selecting the value.

September 16, 2020 Rebranded to Updrafts.app

Within a week after launch, I rebranded Tailwind Studio to Updrafts.app to fight the trademark issue. I've also moved away from Netlify Identity because $ 99/month for identity management isn't sustainable at the moment.

This is not what I expected to do the first week after launch.

September 12, 2020 Passed 1.000 users milestone

ONE THOUSAND USERS! Within 2 days after launch. I could not have imagined this! This did create a surprise bill from Netlify identity, as they expect us to start paying $ 99/month once the 1000th account has been created. But, an awesome milestone nevertheless.

In the meantime, I'm thinking about a new name. Have to rebrand.

September 10, 2020 LAUNCH DAY!

I send out a tweet mentioning the launch of tailwind-studio and send an email to 269 emails that I've collected with an earlier "teaser tweet".

The tweet got over 1000 likes and 215 retweets. Way above my expectations!

The bummer of the day; I got a DM from Adam (the guy behind Tailwind CSS) that I needed to change my name, because "tailwind studio" was inflicting their trademark.
