October 1, 2020 πŸ’° $ 6,473 - September '20 stats for Upvoty

For the first time, we had some real churn going on. At first, I was afraid that it might have something to do with our product.

Lesson learned: always talk to your customer. Even if they leave (or already left) you.

There was nothing wrong with our product, most of them just quite their businesses and no longer needed our user feedback tool. Makes sense.

And with doubling down on welcoming new customers, the churn didn't have that much impact on our MRR. We grew from $5,400 to $6,473. Which is basically a big milestone giving the fact we exceeded €5,000 MRR (euros!).

Stats:

πŸ’° $ 6,473 MRR
πŸŽ‰ 217 paid clients
πŸ“‰ 6 churns
πŸ“ˆ 37,518 visitors

June 9, 2020 πŸ’° $ 3,682 MRR - May '20 stats for Upvoty

Here are the May '20 stats for Upvoty. We're still doing ZERO outreach and sales. Pure organic growth, mainly from our blog content, guest posts, and referrals from existing users. That last one is becoming bigger and bigger. As companies see our feedback tool being used by other company's, they are more likely to try it out themselves as well.

We even had 2 companies sign on and upgrade within 1 day because of that.

Congratulations Mike! Really nice numbers. I noticed your Google Analytics increased a lot at the beginning of 2020. How do you explain this sudden growth? Pure organic growth but what triggered this to increase so rapidly after stagnating a while?

    1. 1

Thanks! We invest a lot in content marketing and it started to take off. Especially after the release of our free eBook.

  2. 2

Hey Mike, only 2 churns sounds really good to me. How many trail accounts converted to paid eventually?

    1. 2

Thanks! We're actually optimizing the onboarding as we speak. Our trial conversion is way too low right now. Around 12% or less. We will improve that rate for sure!

  3. 1

@mikeslaats What Tech Stack you've used for your application?

  4. 1

Awesome! Keep it up. These are the slogging times.

Your website looks GREAT! Nice and simple. I will give your product a try when I have my first customers after the MVP launch.

Thanks! Feel free to try it out :) Good luck with the launch!

  6. 1

Wow, congrats! That is some seriously impressive organic growth

What're your plans for outreach and sales?

    1. 1

We'll start paid advertising soon for starters.

      Thanks πŸ™

  3. 2

    Congrats!

I love your landing page and your pricing plan names! Power, Super Power and Unlimited Power 😁

    1. 1

Thanks for your kind words! Yeah, one thing I want to share about the psychology behind the names: I often see the smallest plans been given names such as 'basic', 'small', etc. I do think that even if a user picks the smallest plan, they need to feel like they bought something of value. So, we literally named our smallest plan 'POWER'. This way, even when you pick our smallest plan, you feel it's "useful", and not like you bought something really, really small.

  4. 2

    Congrats @mikeslaats

What's your biggest lesson in content marketing strategy?

    1. 2

What worked best for us: guest posts on relevant websites and more evergreen content for our target audience. We've narrowed down our target audience to the max. This really helped us ranking better and coming in front of potential customers.

  5. 1

hi, where do those 9681 visitors come from?

    1. 1

Content marketing, social media, mentions, guest posts, referrals

  6. 1

    Congrats Mike!
Btw, this is such an awesome tool and idea, that I am considering use it for my own app.

    Thank you for sharing!

    Awesome job @mikeslaats

Very inspiring. I would love to know how did you find your first customers. And would you mind to share how your average customer looks like (number of employees, etc.)?

The product I develop is completely different but the target audience might be similar so it would be awesome to hear your experience.

    Hey Mike,

The e-book is beautiful, did you use a specific template to make it?

It's really eye-catching, and I'm sure you'll get some love from the design audience over at PH.

Anyway, I'm going to read it now.

    Good job.

We launched on Product Hunt. Although we gain a lot of visitors and signups from it, it wasn't a success in terms of upvotes. We did some things really good, but some things really bad.
