10 Subscribers: Breakdown, Lessons Learnt, ...

A few days back, I created a bi-weekly newsletter with Revue to help Makers like myself Learn, and Get Results. I shared it on a little accountability group I'm in and launched that on MakerLog.

The result is 1 subscriber (from the group).

Next, I designed the landing page, shared it on MakerLog, Indie Hackers, and the group.

I got:

  • 68 visits to the website
  • 9 more subscribers. 1 from the group, and the rest from both IH and ML.
  • 6 feedbacks - 1 on copywriting, 1 on engagement, and the rest are compliments of a good design.

That means the page converted at 14℅. Bad? Fair? Good? I'm just happy I have a waitlist to send the first issue to.

I learned something from the above - A good design is a way to build trust in your offer. If you can invest in this, good! I made the design myself so it cost me $0 from my pocket. (Will talk about my setup later)

Next...

  • I was convinced of simplifying the description and I did that: 4 lists turned 2.
  • Another feedback I'll try is sending an outline to subscribers so the guide can be tailored to their specific needs.
