USPS Zip Code API

Hello Indie Hackers, my name is Ricardo Rangel and i've worked in the data management space for over 22 years (feels like an eternity), creating and maintaining Data Solutions for large organizations, primarily in the travel industry (as manager and executive director) but as a consultant for all different types of organizations.

One of the challenges i've seen many organizations struggling with is maintaining "good" data, and having this data available for all different type of applications (front end websites, back end ERP's, customer service applications, business intelligence, machine learning, etc.). It was always a challenge to keep the "common" data on those applications in synch. This is how Metadapi (the company name based on Meta Data API) got started. Being able to provide good, high quality, managed and enhanced data that could be used by all different kinds of applications, where the overall data management is done by us (me in this case) and our customers don't need to worry about the data being correct, missing, etc.

So the first data service I built was the USPS Zip Code API. Using the official USPS zip code data, I took this information and combined additional data sources to enhance it. This can now be used for all kinds of applications that leverage the API endpoints to get the data they need.

This is still a side project for me, i'm looking to validate the "framework" i built over the last year to manage all of this, but i do have a pipeline of other data products that each will be available as a subscription on the same website.

I have not "launched" the service yet, only added google ads in the last month to see if there was actually any interest and on average i'm getting 2 or 3 subscriptions per day (to the free API tier), but no paid subscription yet. I'm now in the process of learning what should i do in order to at least get an official launch going (any advice is appreciated).
