Valorant Companion

Companion app to help Valorant players

Visit Website
June 6, 2020 A few version later

I've had to update the app a few times now.

The first update was to change the news section from being an RSS feed of a couple of Valorant news sites to being a Twitter feed of the official Valorant account using the official Twitter API! This just looked much better and Riot are good at putting any news people would care about on their Twitter.

The next bunch of updates have just been patch updates. As I mentioned before I want to move this info to the cloud so it doesn't require a deploy.

I've been thinking about adding extra functionality to the app such as quizzes, timers and tips/tricks but I'm not sure if it's something people would want.

Oh, and I have had the app downloaded over 10 times now which is exciting! This is purely from organic searches.

Nice keep it up! It's always interesting to see what kind of companion apps come out of new games. Maybe look and see what popular apps for counterstrike that are similar to yours have? Or maybe add a list of people playing valorant live in twitch or guides on youtube?

      Thanks!

Good ideas! I like the idea of having a catalog of guides. I'm no pro so I couldn't create the content myself but being a reliable and high quality filter of the content that's out there would be good.

May 3, 2020 Version 0.1 live on Play Store! 🥳

After a couple of long weekends the first version made it onto the Google PlayStore!

I had a lot of fun expanding my knowledge of Flutter to get here. Most of my time was spent learning how parse JSON to build objects.

Currently the JSON holding the info on the agents, weapons and maps is hard coded but I hope to move it to the cloud ☁ so when patches drop I don't have to deploy a new version to the PlayStore.

When I started this project there were no other Valorant apps but since then there's been about 3 that look really good. As I am purely doing this as hobby I shouldn't compare myself too much to them and merely draw inspiration where appropriate.

April 1, 2020 Wireframe complete

Before coding anything I like to use Adobe XD to build up a wireframe and then a prototype. This way I know I have all the elements in place and will at least have a feel for how all the moving parts will work. It's much easier to drag elements around a screen than to re-code the UI.

The prototype came together quite easily as I used the colour scheme that Riot use on their Valorant website. Funnily enough it's actually light themed whereas most gamer orientated sites/apps are dark themes. This might help make the app stand out against others (which there are plenty of).

Now onto coding...

Hi! I want to help you. I can tell you how to create a Wireframe.
First, do your UI/UX research. Through this you will identify your target audience and get to know their needs.
Then you make a plan for the user's visit. This is that approximate sequence of pages he can visit, what can interest and attract him.
Next, you directly create a wyrframe.
And the last step is testing the application's wyrm. Here it is important to fix all the inaccuracies and then agree on the final result with the customer. After that the programmers start writing the code.

About

I got access to the closed beta of Valorant and really enjoyed playing it. I wanted to build on my Flutter coding experience as well as help new players get familiar with the game.
