I worked for years in a company that, among other things, processed large amounts of documents. In the early stages, I was involved as a coder in document digitization projects. When the documents were eventually removed from paper, we faced new challenges. Documents and metadata had to be transferred between document management systems. New documents had to be created in the system. New document management software was introduced over the years. The amount of metadata increased and the rules for how to use it became increasingly complex.

Documents (also metadata) had to be transferred between document management software. One thing was always "forgotten". How to make sure the metadata is in order. The issue was raised again and again in meetings.

The issues in question were ignored and it was determined that they could be handled with instructions and documentation.

We have more important things to do.

One after another, more sophisticated document management programs were introduced.

All programs had the same flaw: inadequate data validation or none at all.

Even if some form of validation is found in the program, it is the wrong place to validate data entered into the system at the end of the chain.

It's like loading a train in Helsinki, driving to Rovaniemi in Lapland, and only checking the shipping list when it arrives.

Uups. The goods are missing and they are not the right kind. We need to send the train back to Helsinki.

When problems were identified, some kind of software patch was always quickly released to fix the problem at that time.

I started thinking about how to make the situation easier. Nowadays, there are software programs that allow "data to flow" from one place to another almost automatically.

These software programs connect databases, validate data, etc.

However, There is a need for a program that can used quickly create various data validation and conversion options and is easy and fast for the end user.

What is the most common interface when bulk adding documents to document management programs?

I think Excel or csv sheet
