11 months of work finally featured on Product Hunt

We have been working on Versoly for 11 months now.

6+ months was just building the core product. Not great, we planned for 2 months max.

But we was launching into a very competitive space and it needed to be a minimal viable product, which doesn't mean it just works, it means that it can get paying customers.

So after 6 months we had a solid product that worked well, however the UI/UX needed a lot of work. I'm a back-end developer so my design skills are lacking. We spent a lot of time with potential customers and interviewing them. Asking what they would need to buy.

Slowly we started getting paying customers just by posting on Indie Hackers which I think is rare. But I was posting 5+ times a day giving landing page feedback to any SaaS company that posted. That got me #1 on landing page feedback when it existed and people would email asking for advice.

We now having a bunch of paying customers who are very happy with the product and have left us glowing testimonials.

We did a massive update recently to allow anyone to create unique custom designs.

We could have waited another 3 months before launching to Product Hunt we have a huge road map with features requested by paying customers and features we want as we dog food our own product.

However as a bootstrapped company the best goal is to get ramen profitable and hopefully Product Hunt will get us there faster.

Hey @volkandkaya congrats on featuring on PH. I've been following you (not the spooky way haha) for some time here on IH and can definitely see you put in the time and effort to grow Versoly to new heights. It's great to see a founder sharing every bit of the company journey, especially in the initial phase.

I've upvoted Versoly on PH :) Keep rocking!

I'm trying to be as transparent as possible without sugar coating anything.

Great tool! just signed up! Question, this being a competitive space were you worried about other competitors? Or what are your thoughts behind this?

    1. 1

The space got a lot more competitive as we were building the product :)

We're still not that worried other companies in the space seem to be going at a turtle pace even companies with a lot more resources and funding.

We have taken a unique approach that I haven't seen any editors do which should increase how long customers stay with us and reduce churn.

We have a built in code editor that allows developers to code inside our platform. This will allow them to code custom components without the need to export.

For them few reasons I think we should be fine.

Our biggest problem is developers who think they can build it themselves they usually miss description, facebook and twitter meta tags. Their designs are also not built to convert so they lack call to actions and testimonials. They end up focusing on features which is a side effect of them building it themselves instead of looking for outside inspiration.

Designers are another problem, they spend way too many hours building beautiful websites that convert just as well as a site done by us in 30 minutes. They should be focusing on the UI/UX of the app instead. We hope Versoly will free them up to do that sort of work.

      Thanks!

We're growing fast % wise but that is to be expected from early stage SaaS.

Time to reread some saashacker posts and see if I can find something I can use now we have PMF.

      Thanks!

Yes they can. We plan on updating the site all the time for better SEO and speed. So if they happen to leave then they will miss out :)

That is how we see it at the moment. If it gets abused we might change it.

Added unlimited forms and 1000 form submissions. Pretty generous but if they have a good launch don't want them to be blocked :)

        2. 1

Good idea. That should lock them in.

Glad you spotted that as well.

All our up votes are legit as they come mainly from IH and telegram. Very weird been flagged for 2 hours+ so many views we have missed.
