August 10, 2025 How I Went From Job Seeker to Building My Own ATS

When I was job hunting, I kept running into the same problem:

tracking applications was a nightmare, and I always felt like my profile got lost in the shuffle. I’d apply to dozens of roles, but there was no central way to keep track, and even less chance the right opportunities would find me.

Fast-forward a few years, and I was on the other side of the table, hiring for my own team. That’s when I got a very different perspective. The ATS platforms I tried were:

  • Bloated with features I didn’t need.

  • Slow to use day-to-day.

  • Expensive enough to make me question why small teams even bother.

That combination made me realize something: the same systems that made my life frustrating as a candidate were also making hiring harder than it had to be.

So I decided to build VertexOS, an AI-powered ATS for companies with 1–75 employees. It has the same core features as the big players, but with AI that actually helps, and at about 1/8th the cost.

I’ve already built the full platform, job posting, candidate pipelines, interview scheduling, onboarding, analytics, and AI tools like resume parsing and candidate ranking. Now I’m focused on getting VertexOS into the hands of small teams that need it.

If you’ve been frustrated by overpriced, underperforming hiring tools , either as a candidate or a hiring manager, I’d love for you to follow along as I share the process of bringing VertexOS to market.

And if you’re interested in checking it out for your own team, sign up and get started for free at https://vertexos.ai

I’m currently looking for likeminded people to poke around and test out all the different flows. If you have any feedback, I’d love to hear it. Thanks!

As a candidate, I felt lost in bloated systems that made it hard to track applications or get discovered. As a hiring manager, I saw how overpriced and slow those same platforms were. I built VertexOS to fix both sides.
