VetDex
Organize, track, and share your pets’ vet records instantly.
Hey Indie Hackers,
I’m Devin. For the past 13+ years, I’ve trained horses and worked with livestock across the US and Europe, and I’ve spent 16 years traveling with my dog Thunder through 32 countries. One thing that’s always been a headache—no matter the animal or the country—is keeping track of health records, vaccines, and paperwork. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve scrambled for documents at border crossings or vet visits.
After losing Thunder’s records one too many times, I finally decided to build the tool I always wished I had. So I created VetDex: a simple, free app for organizing and sharing animal health records—vaccines, meds, diet, and more. It works for dogs, cats, horses, livestock—basically any animal. You can even share records instantly via QR code (super helpful for vets, pet sitters, or when traveling).
I’m still early in the journey, but I’d love feedback from anyone who’s dealt with similar headaches, or from folks who’ve launched in the pet/animal space.
What’s worked for you in getting your first users?
Any features you wish you had for your own animals?
Any advice on building trust for a new app in this space?
If you’re curious, you can try VetDex free at vetdex.app. Happy to answer questions or just connect with others building in the animal, travel, or health tech world.
Thanks for reading!
About
I worked with horses and livestock for 13 years, so I know how scattered animal health records cause real headaches. Traveling 16 years with my dog Thunder across 32 countries, I often lost or forgot important vet info.
