YouTube video summarizer — paste a URL, get key points insta

May 7, 2026 I built a YouTube summarizer in 2 months as a side project — here's what I learned

I work a 9-5 and build SaaS products on evenings and weekends. Two months ago I launched Vidpill — a tool that lets you paste any YouTube URL and get a structured AI summary with key points instantly.

The idea came from a simple observation: I kept saving YouTube videos to watch later and never actually watching them. The insight I needed was always buried somewhere in a 2-hour video. I wanted a way to get the key points without watching the whole thing.

Building was the easy part. Lovable handled the frontend, Supabase the auth and database, Stripe the payments, and Claude API the summarization. From idea to live product in about 2 months working nights and weekends.

The hard part? Distribution. I launched yesterday on Product Hunt with minimal traction. No audience, no existing followers, no network in the space. That's the real challenge I'm trying to solve now.

If you've been in this situation — product ready, zero users — I'd love to hear how you got your first 10 customers.
