June 1, 2026 Launched VinSnap — a VIN-first parts finder that fixes the wrong-part problem

Hey IH 👋

I'm Algirdas, solo founder of VinSnap. Launched this in 2026 after getting personally burned by the "fits your 2018 Honda Civic" promise that every parts site makes — then the part arrives and it's wrong.

About a third of online auto parts get returned for fitment reasons. Year/make/model is just too vague. VinSnap solves this with VIN-exact matching: enter your full 17-character VIN and we filter 1.2M+ parts (TecDoc catalog) down to only what fits your exact engine, trim, and build date. 99.8% fitment accuracy.

What we launched with:

  • Free VIN-based parts search — no signup needed

  • - $1.99 instant VIN decoder (100+ specs, downloadable PDF)

  • - Workshop management for indie repair shops — VIN-aware job cards, invoices, customer history ($249/mo flat vs. Tekmetric/Shopmonkey)

  • - Free forever tier for consumers

Current status: just launched, $0 MRR, building in public.

Biggest challenge: explaining that "VIN lookup" ≠ just a decoder. The parts search is the real value but takes a few sentences to land.

Would love feedback from anyone in automotive, SaaS, or who has ever bought the wrong car part online.
