Voice Market Data
Market intelligence and analytics for Amazon Alexa
I've been publishing at least 2 blog posts about voice technology (mostly Amazon Alexa) since August 2019. I've also been sending out these posts as a weekly newsletter and broke the 100 subscriber mark last week!
I've also rebuilt the site the make it user friendly.
Now I "just" need to set up the paywall to the database and try to monetize all this work!
Check it out and let me know what you think: voicemarketdata.com
Last time I posted, I had 15 subscribers and I was super excited! Now, I'm at 50! It's be a bit of a slog to get more subscribers, but I'm happy with my progress.
Does anyone have any tips on passive things I can do to grow a mailing list? (I'm sure there are tons of blogs on this... any favourites?)

We have 15 subscribers! This is super neat because they mostly come from Reddit, Twitter, and IH and are presumably interested in what VoiceMarketData has to offer.
I automated my onboarding email (just a nice little hello with a few posts), but now I need to automate the weekly emails.

I found a way to prepare and present the data I have using a clunky combination of Google Sheets and Google Data Studio. I don't love, it's mostly manual, it's super slow and not elegant at all, but it's a start! Hopefully this will help people understand the value proposition...

I didn't like this, so I spent some time working on a v1.1:
I combined a bunch of csv files using a CMD prompt, manually sorted of the data in Excel to reduce the size of the table (removed entries with >2 review which left me with 9500 rows), imported it in Google Sheets where I cleaned it up a bit more, and presented it on my Wordpress site using Ninja Tables Pro. It's not elegant and won't scale, but it works for now.... Plus it's way closer to what I had in mind than the Google Data Studio attempt....
I've been getting Alexa marketplace data since August 1st. Now I need a place to share it!
I bought voicemarketdata.com with the idea that it's a very SEO friendly url (didn't want anything cute/too branded) and now I need to start writing blog posts for traffic.
I asked a few friend for their advice on how to do the data analytics, but it seems a bit more complicated than expected (it always is). For now, I'll do manual analyses and share that on the site so that it leads to signs up.

After building a few Amazon Alexa skills, I realized there is very little information on what makes a good skill and which skills are popular. I want to fill this market intelligence gap in the market.
