Vylor
Voice-first personal finance app on Android
I launched Vylor on Android in April and I'm at 5 downloads. Sharing what I've built and where I'm stuck, because this community seems to have good pattern recognition on early distribution.
What it is
Vylor lets you log expenses by talking instead of typing. You tap a mic and say "I spent $45 on dinner with my credit card" — Gemini Live AI extracts the amount, category, account, and date instantly. There's also an AI advisor (Oracle mode) that answers questions like "Can I afford a PS5 this month?" using your actual transaction data.
Why I built it
Every finance app I tried, I quit after 2 weeks. The pattern: I'd remember to log expenses for 3 days, miss one, then give up. Manually opening an app and typing at a register was just enough friction to break the habit. The fix seemed obvious — make logging a 3-second voice command.
Stack
React + Capacitor for Android, Gemini Live API over WebSocket for voice, SQLite encrypted on-device so financial data never leaves the phone.
What I've done on distribution
- Play Store ASO (description, screenshots, promo video now live)
- Landing page at vylor.money
- Fixed schema/SEO on the marketing site
- That's genuinely it
Where I'm stuck
The app is in a crowded category (personal finance) but with a genuinely different interaction model (voice-first vs. tap-and-type). I can't figure out if the right move is:
1. Double down on the voice angle in every channel (TikTok demos, YouTube Shorts)
2. Focus on Play Store organic search and get reviews first
3. Find a niche audience who specifically hates typing (commuters? people with accessibility needs?)
Has anyone grown an Android utility app with no paid UA budget and no existing audience? What actually worked before you had any followers to leverage?

About
Every finance app I tried, I quit after 2 weeks. Not because they were bad — because manually opening an app and typing while standing at a register was just enough friction to break the habit. Therefore, Vylor.

Congrats on shipping, Mohamad! The UI layout looks incredibly clean, and leveraging Gemini AI for voice-powered expense tracking is a brilliant way to cut out the friction of manual budgeting. You’ve built a seriously premium product here.
I took a look at Vylor's listing on the Google Play Store, and I noticed a classic indie bottleneck: it's currently sitting at 5+ downloads with 0 user reviews.
Since you just introduced the new PRO features and widgets, trying to acquire users right now without established social proof is going to make your marketing loops tough. When people land on a financial app with zero reviews, the trust gap is huge, which kills the conversion rate.
I actually specialize in structuring early-stage app promotion and targeted review loops to help indie apps clear this specific hurdle and get that initial algorithmic trust from the store.
Dropping you a quick DM with a couple of low-friction ideas to scale Vylor’s store presence and push past these first milestones this month if you're open to checking it out!
