After all that building I finally launched on HackerNews:
https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=30977067
Not to much fanfare, but it was great to get at least a little feedback outside of friends.
I got tons of traffic from the launch, the site stayed up quite well, and people were able to give it a try -- lots of new leads.
Well, the MVP that was going to surely take only around a week ballooned to 5+ weeks and now I'm finally done with it!
The app came together nicely, but had quite a few issues early on:
- Subscription wasn't working properly (big no no! 💰)
- The site was loading weirdly on some browsers (early SvelteKit codebase teething issues)
- There were some parts of the site that were unclear/non-obvious

Initially codenamed 'lockbox' I started working on a "File Escrow aaS" -- the idea being that people had to authenticate to receive shared files.
The first basic ideas were that a simple dashboard to show files shared, limiting the # of accesses, and limiting the access times would be enough.
Early on I was focused most on integrations -- Google Drive, Dropbox, and Box "to start".

Weirdly enough, file hosting and sharing services don't seem to have enough authentication built in for me.
