Serious performance issues
by Roberto LosannoA lot of users contacted us complaining about the performance of the app. We have just uptime robot that alerts us when the app server is down but didn't have any monitoring system to check the response time of the server. We started checking all the servers (cpu, memory...) but didn't find any particular problem. After running out of ideas we configured the trial of Newrelic that helped us very quickly to identify the issue, it was a query on the access tokens table performing very badly, just created an index et voila the app was back and performing as never seen before.
Tools like Newrelic might be scary given the price but when the number of users increases it's very important having a monitoring system that sends alerts when the response time goes over certain limit.
