Wasp
A programming language that understands what a web app is.
We applied a year ago for the first time, got rejected due to being too early, and continued applying every half a year.
In the meantime we continued building our product, community, talking with users, talking with possible investors and refining our pitch, and finally the third time we applied we got accepted!
We release an Alpha version of Wasp and therefore we launched it on ProductHunt! We mostly investigate what other successful ProductHunt launches looked like to guide our submission. We also made a short demo video of Wasp since we heard that can be attractive. We made sure to answer all the questions promptly, and we shared the link on some relevant communities.

Since we are still in pre-alpha, we applied for the BetaList (https://betalist.com/startups/wasp). Although they say average waiting time is month or so, we got featured much earlier, in about a week. This also pushed us to create our Twitter account and also pushed us to share about Wasp on other social media (FB, LI)!

We open sourced Wasp (https://github.com/wasp-lang/wasp) and started building community (reddit, discord, twitter, HN, ...).
Most of our activities were asking for feedback on Wasp, asking interesting questions regarding development challenges we have with Wasp, and we also participate in communities and help others. In the future we plan to produce more valuable content and share that.

While we implemented a prototype few months ago, we now improved it to be more of a real MVP.
This means that Wasp can now be used to generate a simple TodoApp (based on todomvc.com).
This is important step for us because it shows a full usage example and gives much better picture of what Wasp can do / how it works, enabling us to continue asking developers for feedback on the solution (and not just the problem).

After working of Wasp for some time, we decided to write a blog post explaining the reasoning behind it, and why are we building Wasp!
We plan to put more content on the blog in the future, but this is here to get us started and to clarify our mission/vision.

About
Wasp allows developers to write web-apps with short, declarative and concise code, abstracting away complex parts that are not part of the business logic, therefore speeding up development and reducing knowledge barrier.
