I was hacking one night and got very annoyed with the browser extensions that format JSON.
Annoyed enough that I chopped an open-source project (thanks callumlocke) and went full designer on it (dark mode, a nice looking sunburst chart, and shortcuts for URL parameters).
I was building it for myself (with internal features relevant only to me) but it was coming together so nicely that I decided to publish it, obviously free. While removing my internal features (some handover links to my Huginn instance) I realized that the extension makes my bots more useful, maybe even commercially viable. 🤔
JSON analytics is relatively hard to explain & sell, but with a free browser extension as the entry point, it filters in users that know what JSON is and already want to keep track of a particular piece of data.
After bouncing the idea with a few devs, I decided to publish the JSON format extension together with a landing page for a JSON analytics service and see the engagement level & test the connection between those two pieces.
