Track every bike and component, and share your builds

June 23, 2026 I built a cycling component tracker solo on Cloudflare Workers. Here's what I've learned 100 users in.

I'm a developer in Utrecht and a cyclist with around 50,000 km across road, gravel and MTB. At some point I realised I tracked my training in detail but had no idea how many kilometers were on a given chain, or when I last serviced a specific wheelset. The tools that existed either treated component tracking as a bolt-on feature or locked the basics behind a subscription. So I built the thing I wanted.

It's called watchmy.bike. It tracks every bike and component over its full life, pulls distance automatically from Strava, and sends maintenance reminders based on distance, ride time, or a calendar interval. It launched early in 2026 and is past 100 users now.

The stack, since that's the part that tends to interest people here:

  • React Router v7 with SSR, running on Cloudflare Workers

  • Hono with OpenAPI for the API layer

  • Supabase for auth and database

  • A separate Worker on a cron trigger handling Strava sync, with webhook plus backup polling

Building solo on Workers has been mostly a pleasure. The constraint of no Node APIs forced cleaner choices, and the cost at this scale is close to nothing, which matters when you're bootstrapping with no runway.

A few things I've learned that might be useful to others doing the same:

Distribution is harder than the build. The product was the easy part. Finding the cyclists who care about this specific problem has taken more thought than any feature. What's working is going to communities built around other tools people already connect to Strava, rather than shouting into general cycling spaces.

Pick the differentiator your competitors can't easily copy. Plenty of tools track component mileage. The part that sets mine apart is the combination of that tracking with public bike profiles you can share on a custom URL. That's where most of my time goes now, because it's the piece that's hard to replicate and gives people a reason to talk about it.

Free has to be genuinely useful, not a trial. The automatic Strava sync and the tracking are free. I learned quickly that crippling the free tier kills the word of mouth a solo founder depends on.

Happy to answer anything about the stack, the Strava integration, or the slow grind of finding your first hundred users. That last one is the part nobody warns you about.

I track my training down to the watt, but I could not tell you how many kilometers were on my chain or when I last serviced a wheelset. That gap bothered me. The bikes I rely on deserved the same care as the data I obses
