Wave Patrol
Get the current surf conditions according to data
I've closed my latest project Wave Patrol after receiving some honest feedback from visitors to the site who signed up for a trial but never converted (nobody ever converted).
As this was a "passion project", this hurts a bit, however, I've learnt one very important lesson, which is not new, I've just now experienced it! Validation is only relevant when you have an actual product in the market. Long story short, in my research/analysis of the market, people told me they would pay for the product I built. The reality is that when I asked some of these same people, and others, everyone said they didn't want to pay for the product, or even my pivot idea that I shared as part of the feedback process.
Moral of the story, people are very good at telling you what you want to hear, but in reality, once parting with cash comes into it from a customer side, you get the real answers!
This project has taken me longer than expected to release, however, I'm really proud of having finally launched! In hindsight, trying to support more than 5 countries was probably too many and contributed to the delay in the end.
Feel free to share with friends who surf and it would be great to receive some feedback.

I was tired of reading inaccurate surf forecasts and being disappointed when I arrived. So I had to do something about it!
