I love data.

But it was getting painful starting new software projects every time that I wanted to make some graphs and explore data.

The "projects" folder in my computer is full of small pieces of software for making graphs and performing regression.

Each project took a bunch of time to setup and I couldn't share them with other people very easily.

The worst part is that most of these projects don't even run any more. I couldn't make the graphs again even if I wanted to.

So I set out to find some online tools that I could use to make graphs and explore data.

I tried using a really popular BI tool.

I signed up for their free trial with my name, email and a fake phone number.

After 20 minutes I still couldn't get the app working. I had to contact support so that they would cancel my account.

The next day I got a phone call from an unknown number. I declined the call, but it was really weird because I never get phone calls. I think the sales team at the BI tool might have found my phone number even though I gave them a fake number.

I tried using some websites that let you make graphs and perform regression for free.

I really liked that I didn't need to signup or download anything to get started.

But every time I wanted to make a graph I had to upload my csv file again. This meant that I couldn't explore my data very quickly.

So I decided to make wedodatascience.com to make it easy to explore data in your browser without even signing up.

You can upload your dataset and start making graphs and performing analysis.

It started out as just graph makers

Then I added regression calculators so that you can see relationships in your data.

Later I added correlation calculators so you can see what columns of your data are correlated with each other really fast.

I even added an ANOVA calculator so that you can test hypotheses.

Sometimes I use the Parquet data format. But I couldn't find any easy ways to convert between Parquet and csv. So I made a tool to convert from Parquet to csv and another one to convert from csv to Parquet.
