August 26, 2021 Customers coming from referrals

Initially I launched boldrewrite.com from the IH thread at $49. I've become fascinated by how productised services work in the marketing space.

So far I've found founders want people to help (on the most part) more than a tool to solve it.

My theory is that at the bootstrap level – when you're playing with channels; understanding more about what you're building; and working on your positioning. The creative side of marketing is valuable – and AI isn't very good at that yet.

Job completed > a tool to help you complete it.

Since September last year I have held the much higher price of $189. Despite no active marketing myself I have still been receiving orders, and these have been coming through referrals.

I'm very proud of that so wanted to document it as a milestone.

September 4, 2020 microsite launch

After an explosive amount of orders, not 1 refund, and a lots of referrals... these rewrites have really helped !

I've found:

  • There's clearly a need for help with messaging
  • Creative help is so expensive / uncomfortable for startups normally (need to change that)
  • I've enjoyed discovering and rewriting websites!

Rewrites have legs, I'm good at them, and I'm happy to spend the time on them – I really feel I've helped!

My MVP has it's own official website:

BoldRewrite.com

I built it with Gatsby + hosted on Netlify because I'm pretty in love with that tech at the moment.

Price has been increased to £189, because of the time spent on each one.

Excited to keep building more + packaging new ways of helping startups with creative projects.

April 23, 2020 Finished an MVP I wasn't happy with

After years working with startups on their copy I wanted to dip my toe into productised services.

It was time to package copywriting up, make it accessible, and pull out the bits I love about it – and ignore the parts I'm mediocre at.

It was a bold rewrite, not a spelling and grammar check – and I had no idea if anyone would want it.

It's not rare I'm not happy with my work when it's completed, this time I decided to suck it up. It was more important to get feedback on the idea than continue with it.

I posted on IH, and I woke up to orders! Lots of them, I'm excited to share the rest of the story going forward.

About

For many years I've been great at landing page copy. Normally it's just something I casually help people with – but after starting an innocent IH thread, it's snowballed into a profitable side project / product.
