Keep your stakeholders in the loop
Over the last week, we designed and implemented our new homepage. We've learned a lot about how to talk about the product over the last 10 weeks of doing Y Combinator Startup School and the new homepage is a good reflection of that.
We still plan to iterate over the copy and visuals over the next month, but it feels really good to get the first pass of a new homepage for our marketing site live.
You can check it out at https://wescribe.com
Today we launched the alpha version of our app at app.wescribe.com. We have to goals with our alpha:
- Begin testing it with our own consulting clients to dog food it
- Start warming up our domain for email deliverability
Since the app will depend on email as the sole notification channel initially, we did a lot of research into email deliverability and best practices. The only email provider that seems to be giving us issues is Outlook. Gmail, Yahoo, and AOL haven't had any issues. So, improving the deliverability to Outlook users is going to be our primary hurdle during the alpha testing period.

As we near our the MVP release of our rebuild, we've decided to join Y Combinator's startup school to help give ourselves an extra level of outside accountability to get the product out the door. We also thought it would be a good opportunity to get feedback from other companies at a similar stage to our own.

We've been using and continuing to build upon our prototype with our clients for the last 5 months. Based on our experience with the prototype, we've decided to rebuild the product with a more appropriate tech stack with a foundation that will allow other companies to use it with their own stakeholders.

We launched the prototype build of our app with a placeholder name. At this point, we're able to use it internally for updating all of our consulting clients. We'll be using the prototype for weekly or bi-weekly updates that correlate with the sprint schedules for each client.

After noticing how we've been using Google Docs and email to collaboratively draft our updates for the clients we work with, we decided to start throwing a few hours each week towards building a prototype that would help us more easily write and share updates.

We've seen how all communication starts to fall apart when there isn't a regular cadence of project updates to keep everyone on the same page about the details that matter most. We're scratching our own itch.

Hi Pete. I like it very much. Consitent look, great copy and all-in-all a great site.
Under the Use Cases, I would like to double finger swipe from left to right (or in the opposite direction) to scroll through the cases themselves. And maybe a a visual indicator on how many use cases there are. Also add clickable arrows to the left and right side of the area to be able to click through the list.
Good luck!
Those are great suggestions. I had some of the same concerns with the Use Cases UI not being intuitive enough. Thanks, Árni!
