Practise interviews with AI feedback and personalization
I'm a non-native English speaker. In my own language I can explain a complex
system design in detail. In English interviews I'd suddenly start using
simplistic words, ramble, drop into too many "ums," and walk out feeling
like I'd just performed like a junior and feel anxious.
This isn't a knowledge gap. It's interview anxiety crashing into translation
pressure, your brain freezes, the right words won't come, and it eats
high-skill candidates from non-English-speaking countries alive.
So I built https://whaleprep.com an iOS app that practices English-language tech interviews with real-time AI feedback and personalisation.
How it works:
You answer real interview questions out loud
AI analyses both the content of your answer (was it structured?
did you cover the question?) and the delivery (pacing, clarity,
filler-word count)
Premium tier generates questions personalised to your CV and the
specific job you're targeting, so a SQL analyst gets SQL questions
framed for the role they want, not generic ones
Repeated low-stakes practice also takes the edge off the anxiety itself
by the time you sit down for the real interview, you've already
answered this kind of question dozens of times in a safe space

Why I'm posting:
1. Honest feedback on the product: what's confusing, what's missing,
what feels off. Especially from anyone who's been on either side of an
interview.
2. Channel advice from anyone who's shipped before, my target user
is specifically the non-native-English in IT looking for a job. LinkedIn
outreach is happening and Show HN is coming. What other channels would
you reach for given that audience?
