10k followers on Instagram

Passing 10k Instagram followers on @whatsthiscloud, which opens up some options on how to use stories to make the Instagram experience more integrated with the website.

Growing an Instagram account is a bit of a grind. Probably put 30-60 minutes into it a day for the last 6 months.

What did you do to grow it? Manual effort or did you use tools to help you?

@rosiesherry I use Later to help me organize and schedule my posts, but I don't think I can really attribute Later to the reasons why the account has grown.

I've been able to grow the account by 1) posting niche original content consistently and 2) interacting with a lot of the weather community and cloud enthusiasts on there.

Since Instagram is a social network for photos, it's a perfect medium for what I'm trying to do. I've gotten into photography the last two years and I use this account as an outlet for that. There are a lot of hashtags pertaining to weather, specifically clouds, that are frequently used. I put up quizzes and fun content in our stories pretty consistently.

My last company was a software startup and was difficult to come up with a strategy for Instagram that made sense. For What's This Cloud, it's much more straightforward.
