January 11, 2020 Paused temporarily

The product has grown into something really great quickly. But.. Well I have been using something of a workaround (read hack) to enable anyone to send whatsapp message using the platform.

As we grow we want to be very carefull as to what kind of solutions we are building and have paused our service temporarily. We will be back soon with support for the official WhatsApp Business API solution.

A bike showroom franchise run by my friend was having trouble reaching out to his customers. He was passionate and wanted to share more details with his customers even after a bike sale. People ofter missed the best service dates, upgrade options, service possibilities, owners manual, etc. He decided to give WhatsMany a try. This gave the motivation that not just me but more people wanted to such a system that I was using.

October 25, 2019 Why WhatsMany

After quitting my high paying job and I started out with the easiest way make my, starting a training center. I had students who were registering for the training courses that I was offering. All of them were asking the same questions and were interested in scheduling a visit to our center. I had trouble managing my time between communications and course preparation. I thought there should be a better way. I used to message people in WhatsApp for their queries. I looked up a whatsApp business API, but it was not available for a small business like mine. And I think it will probably will never be available for few more years atleast.

I wanted to build my own way of scheduling and messaging my students and thus WhatsMany was born.

February 25, 2019 Technology Challenge

I used Wordpress for some of my frontend, as I wanted to get away with coding something already exists and ship quickly. So subscription management, landing pages, account management functions were all made using paid plugins and themes available in wordpress.

For the backend I spent so much time deciding the right framework, then finally decided to use golang as it was light and can run in small server till I scaled up the customers. Even while scaling, CPU infra wouldn't be a bottlenect as golang is light weight. Also there was a nice framework for websocket integration called gorilla which was robust enough for me, which made me take the plunge into golang.

The front end of the app itself is in react-js and partially in plain old jquery.

About

I quit my job and started a Training centre on my then speciality "Machine Learning". I had trouble reaching out to my students and leads who had reached out to me first. I wanted to send templated messages in scale.
