I really love Netflix, but I had no clue what was new on Netflix, and what was about to expire. I was also missing ratings from popular movie databases. WhatsOnFlix? fixes that.
Today I've created the international landing page. I want to build an audience for the upcoming international rollout.
Next steps are the i18n of the app itself and the automated content creation for some more countries. I also need to decide upon, which countries should follow next.
Launched in Austria and Switzerland
Today the app launched in Austria and Switzerland. That was easy from a technical standpoint, because both countries are German speaking as well. Far more difficult was the verification of the provided data for that countries, but thanks to some very engaged beta testers, I was able to solve it.
With the launch I've also delivered the very first update of the app. It's really important to collect all the feedback from your users and, if you like the ideas they bring in, handle the requests accordingly. That resulted in some nice reviews in both stores.
Launched in Germany
Today the app had been released in my home country, Germany. It gained some kind of attention, as I was sending out some press-kits to local (tech) blogs. So I got some users to start with.
This was the first time I launched a product for both mobile operating systems (Android and iOS) and eventually the first time ever making a real press-kit and sending it out. Lesson learned: Sending out press-kits is a must-have to get your app known to at least a few people, even knowing that only a small degree of the recipients will post a story or notice about the app.
