August 20, 2022 Phase 2 launched

The next phase of WhereNext - Volunteer Travel Experiences has launched.

The site has 136 experiences in 24 countries and includes basic location information and COVID-19 entry requirements for 215 countries along with volunteer stories.

E-Commerce is managed in Hubspot with a Stripe checkout which is a temporary solution given our key supplier doesn't provide real time inventory management.

Other key tech includes: next.js, vercel, mapbox, algolia, cloudinary, hubspot, openweathermap and a covid API.

Lots of fixes and features and refactoring on the roadmap and looking for input around useful travel information for the destination content pages eg. https://www.wherenext.to/destinations/asia/nepal

Thanks,
Rob.

February 17, 2021 Finished the Design Phase

I engaged a development agency in Poland and have been working with them over the last month on the design phase. Initially start with wireframes and moving onto visual design, UX and prototypes. Lessons learnt - I love Figma! Its definitely worth learning as a non-technical founder as it provides clear communication and collaboration with the developers.

November 15, 2020 Completed Logo Design

I found a designer on Fiverr and got my logo designed. It is a great service if you know what you are looking for and find a designer that suits your style and don't want a lot of revisions.

I used https://www.fiverr.com/lewelliotdesign and it cost around $300 including stationary and social media icons.

September 1, 2020 Came up with my idea

I was made redundant from Salesforce in August 2020 and decided to use my severance package to follow my passion in travel and start a purpose-led travel company. The focus is on volunteering and animal conservation initially with the possibility to move into other travel niches in the future (COVID - permitting!)
