July 27, 2022 The use cases we learned from early adopters

We have been putting in the work each day to get our first handful of early adopters. Now that we have several people using our software and loving it, we are taking a moment to step back and acknowledge the different use-cases that have arisen and the additional functions that we have added as a result.

  1. Music festival volunteer coordinating
Our first user was Lakes Jam, a big music festival in Minnesota. We added features that were specific to their needs like volunteer check-in that also tracks who has gotten their compensation, like free festival tickets.

  2. Youth baseball leagues
We are now helping a few different baseball leagues to coordinate their volunteers and track which parents of kids in the league are getting in their mandatory number of volunteer hours. We auto-recruit for open shifts by sending emails to parents who haven't done their time yet.

  3. Non-profit organizations
This is the use case that we anticipated. We have been able to save coordinators 80% of their time by automating tedious processes like: creating sign-up forms, generating interest/recruiting, sending out reminders to prevent no-shows, and gathering data for summary reports. It is exciting to help them become so much more efficient.

We are excited to continue to evolve and be flexible. Although it is important to understand who your target market is, we have also learned that we can make a big difference for people that we didn't expect!

July 11, 2022 The "aha" moment behind WhoCanBeThere

We have all had that moment when we were doing something tedious, and we thought to ourselves, "It is the 21st century, how is there not a better way to do this yet."

WhoCanBeThere founder Scott Juranek had that moment when he saw the way that many organizations handled their volunteer recruitment and management. The days of outreach phone calls, long email threads, and excel documents should have come and gone by now.

Scott used his software experience and passion for building better ways to accomplish daily tasks to create a solution for volunteer coordinators. In WhoCanBeThere you can create a database with all of your contacts and then as you enter in volunteer opportunities, the contacts will be reached out to automatically with a link to sign up.

Our biggest take-away from the experience of creating WhoCanBeThere is that it isn't always best to automate steps in a process, sometimes if you reassess the end goal, you can eliminate the steps entirely.
