May 3, 2023 How to launch an API?

Hey guys, a friend and I are working on a MicroSaaS, a small API generating PDFs from HTML with Tailwind. In many cases, it is 3x or 4x times faster than other APIs and is currently on RapidAPI. Now we are at the point where we want to launch it and struggle to find meaningful places to post it. How would you go about launching such an API?

    Hello Joshua!

You could start here, then on HackerNews, ProductHunt, and Betalist.
Ultimately, go where your potential users are.

If you are looking for beta users, I'll gladly make myself available.

    Cheers.

March 6, 2023 How we build an MVP

When we set out to create WindyPDF, we knew that we needed to build a service that was not only fast and efficient but also easy to implement . In order to achieve this, we focused on two key technologies: RapidAPI and Puppeteer. Here's a look at how we leveraged these tools to bring WindyPDF to life.

  1. RapidAPI: Streamlining Payments and Authentication

One of the primary reasons we chose RapidAPI for WindyPDF was the convenience it offered in terms of payment processing and authentication. RapidAPI simplifies the API monetization process and provides a unified authentication method for developers. By integrating our service with RapidAPI, we were able to offer a seamless and secure user experience, while also adopting a transparent pay-as-you-go pricing model.

  1. Puppeteer: Powering PDF Generation

The backbone of WindyPDF's lightning-fast PDF generation is Puppeteer, a powerful Node.js library that provides a high-level API to control headless Chrome or Chromium browsers. Puppeteer allows us to convert HTML to PDF effortlessly and efficiently.

To harness the power of Puppeteer, we set up a hosted server specifically designed for PDF generation. This server runs an instance of Puppeteer, which is responsible for creating the PDFs. The server architecture is optimized for speed and reliability, ensuring that WindyPDF lives up to its promise of being a blazingly fast service.

In addition to speed, Puppeteer also provides a range of customization options for PDF generation, such as the ability to modify headers, footers, and page sizes. This flexibility allowed us to make WindyPDF compatible with popular frameworks like TailwindCSS, further enhancing the user experience.

February 20, 2023 How we came up with WindyPDF

As product designer, we know firsthand the importance of a smooth user experience. Yet, we found ourselves repeatedly held back by one glaring problem: the painfully slow process of generating PDFs. While working on various projects, it became clear that the existing services on the market were just not cutting it.

That's when we, Sandro and Joshua, decided to take matters into our own hands. We set out to create the ultimate solution to this issue - a powerful HTML to PDF API that prioritized speed without compromising on functionality.

Enter WindyPDF.

Our goal was simple: develop a blazingly fast API that would leave competitors in the dust, while also being easy to implement and budget-friendly. After countless hours of brainstorming, coding, and testing, WindyPDF was born.

At its core, WindyPDF stands out in three key areas:

  1. Speed: WindyPDF boasts an impressive PDF generation time of 200-400ms, a vast improvement over the 4000ms offered by some competitors.
  2. Pricing: We adopted a pay-as-you-go pricing model to ensure that developers only pay for what they need, avoiding hidden fees or costly subscriptions.
  3. Compatibility: Recognizing the popularity of TailwindCSS, we ensured that WindyPDF supports this framework out of the box for seamless integration.

Our journey with WindyPDF began as a way to address our own frustrations, but it quickly grew into something bigger. We realized the potential to empower other developers facing the same challenges and help them unlock their full potential.

Happy coding!
