Wish Surf

I've started promoting my landing page on various platforms, not actively, just leaving a link in my profiles or sending a message about the platform. Right now I have nearly finished MVP and a simple landing page with e-mail collector without much information, but some people have already subscribed to my updates and that's amazing!

I didn't have a lot of time to work on the wish.surf during December unfortunately, but I have spent the first week of January entirely on planning everything, calculating possibilities, working on wireframes and many more preparation tasks. I've decided that I should join properly the YC Startup School and fill-in weekly updates.

I've decided that I should launch on the 3rd of February, at least MVP!

Today is my birthday, but the app is not ready yet, at least some basic backend on Django is done, I can log in, add wish, upload a photo, but that's not enough! I need more functionality to start using it and frontend. What should I use? React Native? Just Django + Ajax + Bootstrap? But I want native apps, flutter sounds interesting!

I have some progress in my wishes app, maybe it can become a startup? I think I should come up with a name for it: something around "wish", "desire" is way too long and "gift" doesn't represent the idea fully.

On a way to my hometown, I've decided to browse domain names. "wish.com" is obviously taken. After a few minutes of scrolling, I found that the top-level domain "surf" exists and "wish.surf" is available! Sounds great! I think this should be the whole brand of my service!

My birthday was approaching and I started to receive questions like "What do I want to receive as a present" from friends and family. All my life it was a tough question because I often have a lot of little things that I want, but I can't remember them nor I can easily find them.
A few years ago I've started filling in a spreadsheet with all my wishes, but it's not convenient at all: I need to check links manually, I could add photos, but it doesn't look good, etc.
So I've decided to make an app for myself, that would solve my problems once and for all!
