Built an MVP
by Dashiell Bark-HussI'm jealous of people who spent 6 weeks to build their MVP. I took a year! No, not working nights and weekends. Working pretty much every single day (I think I took my 30th birthday off) while mooching my way through relatives basements.
I had no clue what I was doing. I was a newly self taught programmer. On top of being inexperienced, SOFTWARE ENGINEERING is another level above programming. I had to learn so much on the fly.
As is usual, I added too much into my MVP. But I don't regret it because I learned a lot.
I never looked at WishTender as a sure thing, but as a way to learn both software engineering and business. I was totally ok with the business failing. Though, I was optimistic.
I struggle towards the end knowing when I was ready to launch. I didn't understand what was ok to leave out? After posting on IndieHackers, peers helped me see I could launch with a lot more bugs than I thought, missing items, and even (though more questionably) incomplete security.
